At VedaNu Wellness, we understand that it's not just about size — it's about feeling confident in every detail. For many patients, the appearance of the nipple and areola can be just as important as overall breast size or shape. Whether you're concerned about inverted nipples, large areolas, or nipples that project too far, our expert surgeons offer simple, in-office solutions to help you feel more confident in and out of clothing.
This procedure can be performed on its own or in combination with breast augmentation, breast lift, or reduction. Common concerns like large or puffy areolas, or nipples that appear long or disproportionate, can all be addressed with techniques that restore balance, symmetry, and proportion to your breasts.
Nipple and areola correction is a quick, outpatient procedure that typically takes under one hour and is performed under local or general anesthesia. Whether you're correcting inverted nipples, reducing the size of the areola, or both, the procedure is safe, effective, and offers minimal downtime.
Many patients choose to combine this treatment with other breast procedures, such as augmentation or lift, for a more comprehensive result. When done alone, most individuals return to their regular activities within just a few days.
At VedaNu Wellness, nipple and areola correction procedures are quick, effective, and highly customized to your anatomy and goals. These procedures are typically performed under local anesthesia unless combined with a larger breast surgery such as augmentation, lift, or reduction. Your board-certified surgeon will thoroughly assess your concerns and walk you through your options to ensure the best aesthetic and functional outcome.
Inverted Nipple Repair
Inverted nipples can be a source of self-consciousness or functional challenges, especially for women who plan to breastfeed. This procedure involves reshaping the nipple and areola so that the nipple projects outward in a natural, balanced way — restoring appearance and, in many cases, sensitivity and function.
The surgical technique used will depend on the degree of inversion and whether the milk ducts need to be preserved. Our surgeons prioritize results that maintain the ability to breastfeed whenever possible. Most patients experience little downtime, and complications are rare. However, as with any surgery, temporary changes in sensation or mild asymmetry may occur.
Areola Reduction
Areola reduction is performed by removing a precise amount of pigmented tissue from the outer edge or base of the areola. This improves symmetry, reduces puffiness, and enhances nipple proportion. Our skilled surgeons use dissolvable sutures and techniques that leave minimal scarring. The procedure is brief, and most patients resume light activities shortly after.
Nipple Reduction
Whether you're concerned with nipple length or width, our team can help bring your nipples into proportion with the rest of your breast.
Both procedures are done with meticulous attention to detail using dissolvable sutures, typically under local anesthesia.
Recovery after nipple and areola correction surgery is typically quick and well-tolerated. Most patients experience mild discomfort and swelling for the first few days, which can be managed easily with prescribed medications. We recommend arranging for someone to drive you home and assist you during the first 24–48 hours.
You may notice bruising and tenderness around the treatment site. Light walking is encouraged the day of surgery to promote circulation and healing. Many patients return to work within a day or two, depending on the extent of the procedure. Any external sutures, if placed, are generally removed 1 to 2 weeks after surgery—or may dissolve on their own, depending on the method used.
Sexual activity should be avoided for about 1–2 weeks, and strenuous exercise or lifting should be postponed for approximately 3 weeks. Most patients are back to all normal activities within a month.
To ensure optimal healing, we advise avoiding sun exposure to the surgical area for at least 6 months. Sunlight can darken healing scars permanently. If exposure is unavoidable, please use a strong sunblock and keep the area protected.
